An Artist by any other name...

Finding Myself at The McMicheal Today at The McMichael , surrounded by the awe-inspiring works of art, I found myself engaged in conversations with passionate volunteers throughout the afternoon. One particular exchange resonated deeply—a dialogue with a volunteer who, much like myself, delved into the artist's creative process exhibited before us. In asking a seemingly simple question, "Do you paint?" I sensed a familiar hesitation in her response, a reluctance to claim the title of "artist." As our conversation unfolded, she shared fragments of her artistic journey—oil classes in college, sporadic projects as a mom—but the recurring theme was an underlying reluctance to declare herself an artist because, in her words, it hadn't "resulted in anything."                                  This encounter stirred a reflection on the concept of being an artist.
